Home to School Supported Transport

We know that for many families, Home-to-School Transport is more than just a journey — it’s a vital part of everyday life that impacts a child’s wellbeing, routine, and readiness to learn.
That’s why we’re inviting parent carers across Oxfordshire to join a brand-new Parent/Carer Advisory Group, working alongside Oxfordshire County Council to co-produce improvements in transport services for children and young people with SEND.
Why This Group Matters
Too often, transport challenges are frustrating, confusing, or simply not built around what families really need. This group aims to change that by making services more:
• Reliable – so families can plan their day with confidence
• Transparent – with clearer communication about who does what
• Responsive – shaped by those who use the system every day
What the Group Will Focus On
Together, we’ll work on:
• Co-producing a clear, accessible transport guide for families, schools, and providers
• Improving feedback pathways so concerns can be raised easily and acted upon
• Reviewing processes like the Risk Assessment and Passenger Passport to ensure they reflect the real needs of our children
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking 6–8 parent carers with a passion for change. You don’t need any prior experience — just a willingness to share your perspective and work together on practical solutions.
We’ll be selecting members to reflect a diverse range of lived experiences, disabilities, and transport situations, ensuring the group represents the broad community we serve.
What’s Involved
• Online meetings every two weeks to start, becoming monthly
• Reimbursement for your time and contributions
• A chance to influence real, lasting improvements
How to Get Involved
If you’re ready to have your voice heard and help shape a better future for families across Oxfordshire, we’d love to hear from you.

Deadline: 1st May 2025
Why Working Groups Matter
This is more than consultation. It’s about co-production — creating solutions with families, not just for them.
By taking part, you’re helping to make information and support clearer, kinder, and more relevant to those who need it most.
