We wanted to share the latest update we’ve received from Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) about SEND transport.
We know that many families are still waiting for answers — and that this delay is having a huge impact on children and young people who rely on routine, preparation, and consistency. OCC have told us they are continuing to work extended hours (7:00am–10:00pm) to get through the high number of queries. They’ve also shared that the number of emails coming in has risen sharply this week — and while many have now been resolved, a significant number are still being looked into by the team.
We know this won’t be reassuring to those still waiting, and we are continuing to raise your concerns with the team every day.
What You Need to Know
1. If You’re Still Waiting for Transport Confirmation
If you haven’t heard anything yet, OCC are asking families to email: TravelOptions@oxfordshire.gov.uk
This inbox is monitored by a dedicated team who are working to respond as quickly as possible. Families are being asked to email (rather than call) where they can, so that phone lines stay free for urgent, same-day transport issues.
2. Urgent, Same-Day Transport Issues
If your child’s transport has not turned up or you’re dealing with an urgent issue on the day, please call: 01865 323 795
This number is being prioritised for urgent support.
3. If Your Child Is in Post-16 Education
If your child has a confirmed Post-16 placement but no transport, OCC can’t arrange it until they’ve received a copy of the timetable. If you haven’t already done so, please send it to:
4. If You’ve Been Sent an Extra Information Form
If you have received a “Request for SEN Transport – Extra Information” form from OCC and haven’t returned it yet, transport arrangements can’t move forward until this is completed and sent back.
We know how exhausting and upsetting this situation has been — especially for families who applied on time and were expecting everything to be in place. We’re doing everything we can to make sure your voices are heard, and that this experience leads to real, lasting changes.
If you haven’t yet had the chance, please consider filling in our two short forms below. They will help us build a clear picture of what families are experiencing:
Ofsted Parent Survey
Ofsted are due to carry out a SEND monitoring visit in Oxfordshire soon. This is your opportunity to tell them directly about your experiences.
OxPCF Feedback Form
We’ll continue to share updates as we receive them — and we’re so grateful to all of you who’ve taken time to keep us informed during such a stressful time.
