Parent Carer Opportunity: Home-to-School Travel Advisory Group

At the SEND Transport Listening Event in October 2024, held by Oxfordshire Parent Carers Forum, parent carers shared their experiences of Home to School Travel with Oxfordshire County Council (OCC). In response, OCC agreed to review the feedback and work with a new Parent/Carer Advisory Group to enhance travel services for children and young people.

This is your opportunity to help ensure that the views of children, young people and parents carers are considered in home-to-school transport.

We need

6–8 parent carers:

• Able to meet online every two weeks, initially

• Commitment extended to monthly after the first couple of sessions

• £10 voucher per session

What are you signing up for?

• To join 6-8 parent carers who are passionate about influencing change and communications to bring about service development within home-to-school and post 16 travel.

Aims of the group

• Clearer, more consistent communication so children, young people, parents, and carers know what to expect.

• A shared understanding between children, young people, parent, carers, service providers, school and post 16 settings about how travel should work.
