Oxfordshire County Council update on changes to the post of Corporate Director of Children’s Services

Following an announcement on the 26th May 2023, relating to the resignation of Kevin Gordon, Oxfordshire Parent Carers Forum have now been asked by the Directors office to share this information alongside the appointment of a new interim Director.

As some of you may be aware, the previous Corporate Director of Children’s Services, Kevin Gordon is no longer in post. Kevin stepped down from his post in Oxfordshire on the 26th May 2023, after nearly 3yrs in post.

Over the last 2 weeks discussions and interviews have taken place and an interim Director has now been named.

Anne Coyle has been appointed to this position with immediate effect. Anne was previously the interim Deputy Director of Children’s Social Care and has worked within the council for the last 12 months. It was felt she demonstrated the knowledge, passion and experience needed to make a difference in Oxfordshire.

In our communications with the Directors office, the following commitment has been made and we look forward to welcoming Anne and strengthening our working relationship with the council, in order to improve the services offered to children, young people and families.

“Both Anne and I want to work to reset the relationship we have with parent carers, as I have heard very clearly concerns that families have felt the relationship has deteriorated and that it is not good for children, families, or us as a service.

We look forward to working with the Forum and broader parent carer community to move this very important agenda forward.”

Stephen Chandler

Executive Director – People, transformation and performance.
